Vita

Klaus Elle completed his studies in Photography in 1981 at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig. That same year he took up post-graduate studies in experimental painting under Professor Wagner and Hartwig Ebersbach at the HGB, which he successfully completed in 1983.

In his role as an alchemist of art, he combines photographic, painterly and installation components in his works with great innovation and productivity. His artistic creativity sounds out a new visual art system on various different levels. His output – stemming completely from within himself – is in search of a new matrix for the present. The fascination for iconographic archetypes and prototypes from cult, architecture, the micro and macrocosm, from medicine, sexuality and power plays a key role in the art of Klaus Elle. As an artist he works per definitionem on a synthesis allowing him guide layers back together that have been separated from one another and to develop his own
observation of evolution.

Klaus Elle is a member of the Deutsche Fotografische Akademie Stuttgart and teaches in the fields of visual aesthetics and design at various art colleges. Since 2005, Klause Elle has been developing creative knowledge scenarios for Global Sustainability Education, together with the ETH Zurich, MIT in Boston and Tokyo University.
